"So I would, I'm gonna open the public hearing at 05:31 and ask if there are any comments from the public in regards to the property tax levy," the chair said when opening the hearing, then closed the hearing one minute later after no one spoke.
The chair described the levy as the annual 1% increase "that we are allowed to do by law" and noted some grant contracts ask whether the city has adopted the levy for street projects and similar work. With no public input, the council approved a motion to move Ordinance 16-10 — the formal property tax ordinance — to a second reading.
The council will schedule the ordinance for its second reading so members and the public can review the measure before any final vote.
