District clarifies staff limits and volunteer campaign activities; citizen canvass planned this Sunday

Speakers reminded attendees that district staff and administrators are limited to sharing factual information and that community volunteers and a citizen-led campaign committee are the advocates tasked with persuasion. "Staff can impart information... You all would have gotten a mailer in your mailboxes... Complementing the campaign and the work that we do, there is a citizen led campaign committee," a presenter said.
Attendees asked whether PTOs could advocate; the district clarified PTOs may not use official school email or school-managed channels to advocate but parents and volunteers may use personal channels and organized volunteer canvassing events. A community canvass event was announced to begin at LO High School at 1 p.m. on Sunday (details to be distributed by the citizen campaign), and organizers suggested targeting likely supporters with reminder outreach.
