Benicia Tree Foundation seeks new board or faces dissolution

Benicia Tree Foundation told council it has planted more than 1,000 trees since 2009 but needs new officers (president, treasurer, secretary) and warned the current board may notify the state attorney general of dissolution if replacements are not found by Dec. 31, 2025.
A Benicia Tree Foundation representative (Allison) delivered a prepared statement to the council outlining the group's volunteer accomplishments and an urgent governance need.
She said the organization — established in 2009 as an all‑volunteer 501(c)(3) — has planted 1,084 trees in Venetia, supported Tree City USA status, and in the past year sponsored events that planted dozens of trees and organized many tree‑care days. Allison said the board now seeks new leadership and needs at least a president, treasurer and secretary; budgets since 2018 have been about $5,000 annually and the existing board will continue to assist new members in transition.
"Without a new board, the current board members will notify the state attorney general of the board's dissolution as of 12/31/2025," the speaker said. Council thanked the volunteers and encouraged residents to consider serving.
