The Williamstown Cemetery Commission voted Aug. 28 to accept a fence-repair bid from contractor Mike MacAskill and to ask the Trustee of Public Funds for $10,500 to cover the project. Commissioners asked the contractor to confirm materials before ordering and set a target completion date of Nov. 15.
"I’ll make the Motion that we accept the Bid from Mike MacAskill as presented," said Matt Walker, Committee member; Daphne Herwig seconded the motion and the vote passed. The commission reviewed an alternate quote from rkMiles at $4,990.08 (tax‑exempt) and a lower-material option priced at $3,640.78 plus an estimated $370 for trim screws, but chose MacAskill's lower base bid and the earlier completion date. The commission noted approximately $16,000 is available for projects and agreed to request $10,500 from Trustee Gary Storrs to fund the work.
