Cemetery commission makes exception to allow four cremations on a 5x5 lot with grass marker

The Williamstown Cemetery Commission voted Aug. 28 to allow a one‑time exception permitting four cremation burials on a standard 5x5 lot in the Village Cemetery, provided the lot is marked only with a grass marker and no foundation or upright stone is installed. The request came from resident Gerald Quintin, who said he intends the plot for himself, his wife and two sons.
"I will make a Motion to allow Mr. Quintin to have four cremation burials on a 5x5 lot with the understanding that it allows for a grass marker only, no base needed," said Matt Walker, Committee member, who made the motion; it was seconded by Daphne Herwig and approved unanimously. Commissioners noted the commission's Rules and Regulations currently allow two cremations per lot, and the vote creates an exception in this instance. The commission asked Mr. Quintin to provide the grass marker design and dimensions for approval before burial arrangements proceed.
