Criminal‑court clerk Heidi reported to the committee that her office has completed over 10,000 expungements since taking office in 2018, including more than 3,300 women. The most recent clinic was the 25th and served more than 200 participants, she said, and offered services beyond expungement such as installment payments on fines, MATA and employer referrals.
"I'm very proud of that fact...we had over 200 people come into the clinic, receive services, not just an expungement, but they can receive services such as drive while you pay, they can pay on their account, they can get jobs with MATA or FedEx, UPS, Kroger," Heidi said.
Clerk Heidi described employer partnerships and thanked community hosts for providing space and outreach. Commissioners applauded the clinic's role in removing barriers to employment and noted outstanding challenges—particularly court costs and fines that still prevent some eligible people from completing expungement processes.
