The amendment shifts the district's payment start date to Nov. 15 and establishes an initial annual payment of $204,000, rising in subsequent contract years; the IGA also includes a sinking fund contribution for major mechanical repairs.
"Yes, the school district pays the city to use the pool. We do not get it free, and we pay $204,000 a year just to use it," Doctor Shealy explained during the presentation. Board members discussed that the arrangement remains less expensive than building and operating a district-owned pool and then voted to approve the amendment by voice vote.
