Board proclaims June 20 as World Refugee Day; World Relief Quad Cities outlines services

Rock Island County adopted a proclamation designating June 20, 2026 as World Refugee Day and received a presentation from World Relief Quad Cities staff.
Board Member C. Enburg introduced the proclamation recognizing refugees’ contributions and the county’s role as a welcoming community. "We are probably best known for our work partnering with the Department of State to resettle refugees, as the only resettlement agency here in the Quad Cities," said Jen Osing, Director of World Relief Quad Cities. Her colleague Gabby Arreguin, Program Manager, joined the presentation and described services that include employment and education support, a food pantry and immigration legal services.
Board Members expressed appreciation for the organization’s work, and the proclamation was adopted by unanimous voice vote. The board and World Relief also took photos after the presentation.
