Council Adopts 2026 Tentative Budget, Sets May 20 Public Hearing

The South Weber City Council on May 13 adopted Resolution 25:12 to file the 2026 Tentative Budget and scheduled a public hearing for May 20, 2025. Staff described the draft as a balanced budget for each fund built using conservative revenue forecasts, historical data, and committee input from budget work sessions.
City Manager David Larson told the Council that the city has considered updating its emergency plan and noted an estimated cost of approximately $25,000 to hire Jones & Associates, a former city employee’s current firm; that expense is not included in the current tentative budget and would require a future amendment if pursued. Councilwoman Angie Petty referenced page 119 of the packet and suggested including ambulances in the vehicle rotation although they are not on the fleet-lease program.
Councilwoman Petty moved to adopt the tentative budget and set the May 20 public hearing; Councilman Wayne Winsor seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all five Council members voting aye.
The adoption of the tentative budget begins the public-review process ahead of final budget adoption later in the fiscal cycle.
