Council Approves Rezone for Brimley Property on 1900 East

South Weber City Council voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance 2025-10, changing zoning for the Brimley property at approximately 7513 S 1900 E from Agricultural (A) to Residential Moderate (R-M).
The change covers roughly 1.8 acres and, under the R-M standard, allows up to 2.8 dwelling units per gross acre — which on the parcel equates to as many as five dwelling lots. During the Planning Commission review residents raised concerns about increased traffic on 1900 East and the preservation of a large tree and the existing home; the applicant said they hope to retain both the tree and the house.
Councilman Jeremy Davis moved to approve the ordinance; Councilwoman Angie Petty seconded. Mayor Rod Westbroek called for a roll-call vote and the motion carried 5–0.
The rezoning now allows the applicant to proceed to subsequent subdivision or site-plan steps required under city code.
