Council Approves Rezone for Namazi Subdivision on South Weber Drive

South Weber City Council on May 13 adopted Ordinance 2025-09 to change zoning for the Namazi Subdivision at approximately 1945 E South Weber Drive from Residential Low and Agricultural to Residential Moderate (R-M).
Applicant Berhuz Namazi told the Council there will be no entrance from South Weber Drive and that access would come from the subdivision to the south. The R-M designation permits up to 2.8 dwelling units per gross acre; on the site’s roughly 2.0 acres that allows up to five dwelling lots. The Planning Commission held a public hearing on April 10 and unanimously recommended approval after concerns about higher-density development were resolved by noting the proposal would create only five single-family homes.
Councilman Wayne Winsor moved to approve the ordinance and Councilman Blair Halverson seconded. Mayor Rod Westbroek called for a roll-call vote; Council Members Jeremy Davis, Joel Dills, Blair Halverson, Angie Petty and Wayne Winsor voted aye. The motion carried.
The decision clears the way for the applicant to proceed with subdivision steps consistent with the R-M zoning and any site plan or subdivision requirements that follow.
