Staff completes townwide historic-resources survey; commission discusses map and timeline placement

Planning staff reported that intern PJ completed a survey of historic resources and uploaded photographs and data to the town's system. Staff described two draft historic maps — one simplified map based on a 50-year threshold and an older, more granular map — and asked the commission whether the new map should replace the existing graphic in the comp plan.
Commissioners said they liked the new map's clarity but cautioned that the map's design must match the comp plan's overall formatting. One commissioner suggested including a short textual timeline or milestones to support the photographic materials and recommended deferring final placement in the comp plan until staff can align the design. Staff said the photographic timeline would be a new addition and not a replacement for the historic event timeline in the comp plan's front matter.
"I think another... is that the map is part of 16, and... we can kind of, you know, maybe set it aside until we... want to commit more efforts to the timeline," staff said, and commissioners agreed to table detailed formatting work and to revisit it once staff prepares a more polished draft.
