Board approves June financials; ARPA construction projects remain on schedule

The Nebraska State Fair Board unanimously approved the June 2026 financial statements during its July 17 meeting after a financial overview from Joe Stump of AMGL.
Treasurer and staff presented detailed financial reports and ARPA reimbursement updates. Dawn Caldwell moved to approve the June financials, the motion was seconded by Alan Kahle, and the roll call vote carried unanimously. Board members were also briefed on campground project funding and ongoing joint fundraising efforts.
Operations Director Tina Thuernagle reported fair preparation is well underway: seasonal hiring is progressing, facility setups have begun, and staff are coordinating with GI Expo during the GILCA transition. ARPA construction projects highlighted as ongoing included festoon lighting installation, storm pipe and grading, and concrete replacements where work is complete.
Board members were encouraged to identify improvements for the 2027 fair while attending the 2026 event. Staff said current project savings on the Beyond the Budget initiative exceed expectations and will inform planning for future capital work.
