David Jones of NRS explained how the platform can be customized for accounts and used by volunteer fire departments, sheriff's offices and emergency managers. He said the map uses thresholds that change the gauge status color and that the county can configure account views to include metrics such as the number of active road closures.
The presenters described testing several low‑cost gauge technologies as an alternative to higher‑cost research‑grade USGS sensors. "ACF has already put out 9 gauges," David Jones said, and the team plans further deployments while reporting performance back to the state to inform wider adoption.
Project staff said the platform will host model inundation maps that grow and shrink with forecast runs and that local jurisdictions will decide policy thresholds for public alerts.
