Hutto Library expands programming through volunteers and local partnerships

Kristin Phillips credited volunteers, local businesses and partner organizations for delivering a broad array of programs that boosted attendance in FY25.
"We found ways to utilize people in the community to do all of these different things," Phillips said, listing collaborators such as Trails of Carmel Creek, workforce solutions, local coffee shops and restaurants, and groups that provide monthly services like speech screenings and master gardeners. The library ran a homeschool meetup attended by about 25 children and arranged recurring senior activities in partnership with local senior centers.
Phillips said many performers and program leaders came at little or no cost because local businesses and sponsors provided in-kind support or matching-grant funding. She reported the library friends group is pursuing 501(c)(3) status and that the library received a $2,000 summer reading grant and several matching grants from the Texas Commission on the Arts.
