Tucker committee advances Bailey property purchase with VHCB grant, private donation

The Minear family "has committed a donation for the purchase," and Friends of Tucker will solicit additional donations. Dan Berna’s appointment to the committee will be presented to the Selectboard on March 11 for approval.
Committee members discussed potential fiscal impacts and permitting steps. Kidder said that at town meeting there was opposition to selling the Ski Tow property but "there was no objection to purchasing the Bailey property and the loss of municipal taxes on the Bailey property would be minimal." The committee was also told that Brad Wheeler filed a wetlands permit and supplied additional requested map information; "The permit filing requires a $427 fee," which the minutes say will be presented to the Selectboard for approval.
The committee did not take a final vote on acquisition during the meeting. Next procedural steps recorded in the minutes include Selectboard review of Dan Berna’s appointment on March 11 and the Selectboard's future consideration of the wetlands permit fee at its meeting.
