Newbury Selectboard elects officers, confirms committees and auditors

At its March 11 meeting the Newbury Selectboard elected Susan Culp chair, Shauna Prime vice chair and made multiple committee appointments and reappointments, including a third auditor, Mary Schilke.
Susan Culp was re-elected Selectboard chair at the Town of Newbury’s regular meeting on March 11, 2026. The board also elected Shauna Prime as vice chair and affirmed meeting procedures and posting sites. The actions were taken by formal motions with recorded seconds: the chair motion was moved by Shauna Prime and seconded by Andrew Lee.
The board made a slate of appointments and reappointments across town committees. Mary Schilke was appointed as the town’s third auditor. Michael Thomas was reappointed to the Conservation Commission for a four-year term; Larry Scott and Tony O’Meara were reappointed to the Planning Commission for three-year terms. Other confirmations included members of the Cemetery Committee, Energy Committee, Development Review Board, Budget Advisory Committee and Fire Department Steering Committee. The board also left the Dog Census Taker position vacant due to budget constraints.
The board affirmed that regular meetings will be held on the second and last Wednesday of each month, that official posting sites will be the Town Office, Newbury Village Store, Baldwin Memorial Library and the town website, and that the Journal Opinion will be the newspaper of record. These procedural items were approved by motion.
