A public-service announcement on the community program reminded Grand Prairie residents to take steps to avoid mosquito-borne illness and to sign up for the city’s Alert GP notifications.
The on-air message advised using insect repellent with DEET, wearing long sleeves and pants, and draining standing water to reduce mosquito breeding. "Protect yourself against the West Nile virus," the PSA said.
A separate city announcement described Alert GP, Grand Prairie’s emergency-notification system, noting it can target the entire city or specific areas and urging residents to register at gptx.org/alertgp so they can receive critical community alerts.
