Planning staff and consultant brief P&Z on 'Epicenter' area plan, seek recommendation timeline

City of Grand Prairie planning staff and the consultant team presented the Epicenter area plan at a May 12 Planning & Zoning briefing and asked commissioners to review the draft and submit written feedback ahead of the next meeting so staff can prepare a recommendation to City Council.
"We'll also be sending out the actual document for y'all to review, prior to the next meeting," a staff member said, urging commissioners to email questions or comments so the consultant can address them. Chair Cheryl Stets confirmed a quorum and asked about the timeline for individual recommendations; staff said commissioners have until the next meeting to digest the plan and submit comments.
The consultant described the briefing as preparatory, not an adoption hearing, and said P&Z has functioned as the project steering committee. The consultant emphasized that the briefing is intended to set up commissioners to forward a recommendation to City Council later in the summer, and that no action was requested at this workshop.
