Lifeline for Families will host its 24th annual Freedom Lunch and auction on Thursday, June 4, at the Ruthie Jackson Center to raise money for short-term rental assistance and other supports for families served through Grand Prairie ISD.
"And we help about 150 families a year over our 24 year history," said Amy Sprinkles, who described the luncheon’s live and silent auctions, entertainment and sponsorship options. Individual tickets are $45 and a table for eight is $400, Sprinkles said, and tickets are available at lifelineforfamilies.org.
Organizers said the event typically sells out and includes a range of auction items to encourage giving. Admission proceeds support a program that provides descending-scale rental assistance and short-term financial planning to families facing acute expenses. The program is housed in GPISD facilities and relies on community sponsors and donors to fund direct assistance.
Sprinkles also described a limited "golden ticket" promotion — 100 tickets at $100 each — that lets purchasers select a live-auction item they would receive if they win. The luncheon will also feature a $500 raffle called the "money tree."
