At a hearing before the Building Advisory Appeals Board, a representative for MidFirst Bank told the board the bank "has stepped up and offered to undertake the, the cost of the repairs" at 1605 Acosta but did not provide a contractor-level timeline at the meeting.
A code-enforcement staff member who presented the case said the property has been under scrutiny since April 2020 and that recent, progressive photos indicate worsening conditions: "It's worse now than I believe than it was then," the staff member said. Staff noted prior recommended findings and that a 30-day repair order had been issued and later extended.
Daffin, who identified himself as speaking on behalf of MidFirst Bank, said the bank obtained an engineer's report and provided copies to board members but called the document diagnostic rather than a step-by-step remediation plan. "There's not any sort of real plans. It reads like an engineer's report," Daffin said, and he offered to deliver an electronic copy of the engineer's submission to the board.
Board members pressed for a concrete completion timeline rather than only material or standards information. Daffin said he could not provide a completion date that night but said he would "carry back" a board mandate that MidFirst present a specific timeline, and that the bank still planned to proceed with repairs.
The board's clerk clarified that the repair order does not expire until June 5 and that the owner or representative is required to appear at the board's next meeting on June 1. A committee member moved that the board "take no action" at the current meeting; the board approved the motion in a voice vote. The board recorded the expectation that a detailed timeline will be presented on June 1.
