Douglas County Board of Adjustment approves minutes, hears two variance cases and adjourns

At its Feb. 25 meeting the Douglas County Board of Adjustment approved Aug. 27, 2025 minutes, approved an area variance for the Timmers, denied an after-the-fact variance for the Hirmans, and adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
The Douglas County Board of Adjustment met Feb. 25, 2026, in Superior. Chair Bob Martin called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. and the board recorded members present and absent before proceeding to agenda items.
A motion by Scott Sorenson, seconded by Mary Lou Bergman, approved the Aug. 27, 2025 minutes. The board then considered two public hearing applications: #26-1 (Steven & Jolene Timmers), an area variance to allow a 4027 x 4027 pole building within the Brancel Road and front-lot setbacks, which the board approved on a 4202D200 vote; and #26-2 (Craig & Lisa Hirman), an after-the-fact variance to allow a dwelling to remain within the 10-foot side setback in Cranberry Cove, which the board denied on a 4202D200 vote after testimony from the applicants27 attorney and a neighbor in opposition.
No future agenda items were recorded in the minutes. A motion by Scott Sorenson, seconded by Mary Lou Bergman, to adjourn carried and the meeting ended at 10:40 a.m. The committee clerk recorded the proceedings.
