The Douglas County Land & Development Committee on Feb. 24 approved amendments to the county's Land & Development Policies and the Procedure for Sale of Tax Deeded Lands and voted to refer the changes to the full County Board.
Under the approved changes, the county will add an online land-sales process, require that previously advertised properties be brought back to the committee after two years instead of three, and raise the minimum land value to $1,000 per acre from $800. Committee member Joe Moen moved to approve the amendments and refer them; Alan Jaques seconded the motion, which the committee approved and referred to the County Board.
Committee members said the changes are intended to modernize the sale process and reduce the number of unsalable parcels remaining on advertised lists. The committee did not record a roll-call vote in the minutes; the minutes state the motion was carried and, for this item, "Motion carried unanimously." The referral means the County Board will consider formal adoption and any implementation steps or ordinances necessary to enact the policy revisions.
