The Forest, Parks & Recreation Committee on Feb. 23 approved a request from Straight Arrow Enduro Riders to use a small portion of Douglas County Forest land for the 57th Annual Duquette Moose Run Enduro on Aug. 29–30, 2026. The meeting packet indicated that general liability insurance coverage was provided for the event.
Ken Fastner provided the Straight Arrow Riders annual report, noting that 2026 marks the 18th year the trails have been officially approved on County Forest land. Fastner described recent logging activity on the Minnesota side of the border and said the club’s next project is to reestablish a trail segment in the logged area through reconstruction and rerouting to restore connectivity, including discussion of crossing Balsam Creek.
The committee approved the item by motion (motion by Baker, second Cummings); the packet and Fastner’s report will guide coordination between the club and county forestry staff on trail reconstruction and seasonal planning.
