Residents question adding AutoZone and urge different businesses for Lusby
Summary
Multiple public commenters urged the commission to consider unique businesses for Lusby rather than duplicating existing services; callers said an AutoZone across the street already serves the market and asked the county to prioritize amenities like a gym or library.

Several Lusby residents spoke during public comment about local development choices and business mix. Sarah Wiens said she was "mostly concerned about the duplication of business" and asked whether adding an AutoZone made sense when an Advance Auto Parts exists across the street. She added that Lusby lacks other needed amenities such as a fitness center and urged consideration of different priorities.
Megan Faringer, also speaking for Save Lusby in part, echoed those concerns and asked the commission to consider what unique businesses might improve livelihoods in Lusby instead of approving duplicate auto‑parts stores. Both callers urged the commission to weigh community needs as planning and site decisions proceed.
