The Planning Commission on Feb. 27 approved an architectural review application allowing an AutoZone store in the Lusby Commons Shopping Center to exceed the Lusby Town Center 50‑foot facade limit. Jessica Catano, Planner 3, presented the proposal for a new building at 11749 H G Truman Road (Tax Map 42, Parcel 111) and told commissioners the application met the Lusby design guidelines except for facade length.
Catano said staff found the proposed front elevation includes awnings, masonry features and display windows that meet the 70% ground‑floor activation requirement and requested the commission consider approving an extension up to 150 feet under the ordinance conditions. A commissioner moved to approve the application as recommended by staff; the motion was seconded and the chair announced the motion "passes 7 to nothing."
