Kalkaska County adopts revised travel, mileage and building‑hours policies

Commissioner Robert Baldwin presented several administrative policy updates during the Oct. 8 meeting. The board adopted revised Policy #100 (Advance Travel Policy Procedure for emergency travel) and Policy #360 (IRS mileage reimbursement for meeting attendance), both effective Oct. 15, 2025.
The board also amended Policy #170 to standardize county building hours to 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM. County Admin/CFO Patrick Whiteford emphasized a goal of consistent public service hours across departments; the clerk and register of deeds were noted as already maintaining 8–5 hours. All three policy actions were approved by consensus with no recorded opposition.
