Kalkaska County approves budget amendments, pays $1.87 million in bills and sets budget workshops

Kalkaska County commissioners on Oct. 8 approved a package of budget amendments and authorized payment of more than $1.86 million in bills as the county prepares for next year's budget process. County Administrator/CFO Patrick Whiteford told the board the Chart of Accounts is now current in the BS&A accounting system and recommended the amendments.
The board reached consensus to approve Budget Amendments 2025‑020 through 036 and 038 through 044, and approved Post Approved Bills totaling $1,866,345.16; General Fund bills of $424,230.04; Payroll #19 of $226,577.85; Payroll #20 of $219,536.65; and commissioners' per‑diem and salary totaling $3,990.00. Whiteford said budget worksheets will be distributed to departments by Oct. 15 and the board set Proposed Budget Workshop dates for Oct. 29, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 at 5:00 PM.
The board's action clears administrative steps ahead of a 2026 budget hearing to be scheduled; no opposition to the amendments or bill payments was recorded.
