County staff told the Finance Committee that work with BS&A to reconfigure the chart of accounts is progressing and intended to make budget calculations easier for department heads, but that the 2026 budget will have to wait for that work to be completed.
County Administrator/CFO Patrick Whiteford said Deputy Administrator Sanders and outside accountant Hervey have been meeting weekly and completing BS&A requests. Whiteford noted that Treasurer Valerie Tracey reported "all reconciliations are in and all of Hervey’s BS&A requests are completed," a status update the committee recorded in the minutes. Staff said they will continue trainings through the State of Michigan and will return with corrected payroll categorizations and any necessary budget amendments.
