Finance committee approves Budget Amendment 2025-0019 as administrators warn of further adjustments

Chair Jeff Sieting called the Sept. 9 Finance Committee meeting to order and the committee approved Budget Amendment 2025-0019 by consensus with no opposition.
County Administrator/CFO Patrick Whiteford told the committee the county has not yet received a response to its Deficit Elimination Plan from the state and that payroll categorizations contain line-item errors dating back about a year that will be corrected in payroll. Whiteford said Deputy Administrator Sanders is preparing employee verification sheets and that "there has not yet been a response" from the state on the plan. Whiteford and Sanders indicated numerous additional budget amendments are likely because some pay increases were implemented before the 2026 budget is finalized.
