Utility Director Darryl Green told aldermen the Hwy 45 N (Magic Valley) corridor lacks adequate fire hydrants and that, given growth potential, the city prefers spacing of roughly 300 feet between hydrants. The project is funded in part by a grant; the board approved the low bid from Morris Contracting, LLC for $222,828.25 on a motion by Ald. Keith Smith, seconded by Ald. Donna Butler.
The board did not specify additional project timing in the minutes. The action authorizes staff to move forward with the DRA water-line project so construction and hydrant installation can proceed under the grant terms.
