Fast Stop asks Henderson to cut beer-sales distance from school from 1,000 to 500 feet

Seth Blank and David Adcox, representing Fast Stop (a division of Highland Energy), asked the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to amend the city ordinance that currently bars retail beer sales within 1,000 feet of a school. They asked the board to reduce that buffer to 500 feet measured front door to front door for their East Main location, which is adjacent to Henderson Junior High School.
Their representatives emphasized company policies intended to prevent underage sales, saying, "Their company requires TABC training (which is not required by law) for all of its employees to ensure that they comply with the laws." The board did not take action on the request at the March 12 meeting; the item will roll to next month’s agenda for further consideration.
