Commissioner Herschel Edwards told the commission he is coordinating veterans outreach at the Marshall County Courthouse during RAGBRAI. The plan calls for setup at 7:30 a.m., volunteers to arrive around 8:00 a.m., and the outreach area to operate until 4:00 p.m. The team plans to acquire a canopy, four tables and 20 chairs; 250 water bottles have been delivered to Commissioner Bob Grimes and "VA Lori" will provide a popup tent.
Edwards said the group would investigate a vinyl sign/banner from Sign Creations and use available QR codes to eliminate paper handouts for veteran-service connections. The commission recorded the outreach logistics in the meeting minutes; no funding appropriation or contract award was made at the June 2 session.
