Hutto to host Texas Veterans Commission adviser at City Hall under MOU

Council approved a memorandum of understanding with the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) to host a TVC claims benefits adviser at Hutto City Hall.
Angela Hassell, management analyst, said the MOU would bring TVC services to a local office and require no additional city expenditure: staff would provide limited office space and Wi‑Fi. "So that way, residents have somewhere local to come and get the resources that they need," Hassell said. Juan Amaya Jr., claims operations manager for the TVC, described the services an on‑site adviser will provide, including claims assistance, benefit counseling and referrals for health care and burial assistance.
Council voted unanimously to approve the resolution. Staff said they will coordinate a meet‑and‑greet and a communications plan so residents and local veterans organizations know how to access the service.
