The commission reviewed measured sections and a rough estimate to replace or repair fencing in the Village Cemetery. Susan Lyons said the sections come in 10-foot lengths and identified 38 sections from Circle Street to the back corner; her initial estimate for a portion of that work is $4,723.40. Lyons said she would check prices at RKMiles and look at board requirements.
Members discussed whether to hire contractors or do the work in-house, the need to include labor in cost estimates, and whether to use pressure-treated posts in areas without existing granite posts. Matt Couillard offered to measure gates to determine materials required. Lyons said the commission should solicit at least three bids and consider asking the Trustees of Public Funds for additional funds for chains and screws if the estimate holds.
