Director Shagnon: La Paz bridge work largely complete; lanes, sidewalks and landscaping next

Director Shagnon provided a photo update on the La Paz widening project, saying bridge structures are complete and that portions of the roadway have been widened to add capacity. "The project has 3 primary objectives, 2 functional and 1 aesthetic," he said, noting the work includes rehabilitating bridges to current safety standards, widening the roadway and installing decorative landscaping and pilasters.
Shagnon described the schedule ahead: finish remaining northside roadway sections this month, complete median improvements in November, and perform planting and finish work in December. He said the final bridge deck and roadway overlay could slip into January but would be done as night work to limit daytime traffic impacts. Council members asked about lane transitions east of Chrisanta; Shagnon said traffic volumes east of Crescenta do not warrant additional widening but that signal phasing at La Paz/Crescenta will be adjusted to improve flow and that the widening provides a wider buffer for pedestrians and bike lanes.
