Board discusses WI DOR Innovation Grant and possible shared-services merger with Cecil

Clerk/Treasurer Michelle Maroszek told trustees that the Village of Cecil contacted multiple municipalities, including Bonduel, to gauge interest in a joint merger or transfer of services that could qualify for the WI DOR Innovation Grant program. Maroszek described the program as "a new initiative that was developed from Act 12," explaining there is a $3 million Innovation Planning Grant and a $300 million Innovation Grant available.
Maroszek said qualifying transfers would include public safety, administrative functions, public works, fire protection, and training, and that the grant requires showing a cost savings of 10% for three years by both parties and a six-year commitment. She and Director Jesse Rankin plan to meet with a Cecil representative and attend State webinars to learn more. By consensus the board moved the item to the Committee of the Whole for further study.
Trustees did not take formal action at the meeting; staff follow-up and additional information from Cecil and state webinars were requested.
