Traill County EDC approves minutes, treasurer's report and checks; staff flags tight budget pacing

Gary Nysveen moved to approve the May 19, 2026 minutes; Mark Duncan seconded and the motion carried. Alyssa Short, TCEDC deputy director, reviewed financial statements and reported the office is tracking at about 37 percent of its 2026 budget through June 16 (not including June payroll). Short said the pacing was reasonable but cautioned that "expenses aren’t evenly spread throughout the year, and it will be tight." Ben Hershey moved to approve the May treasurer's report; David Knudsvig seconded and the motion carried. Vicky Grothmann moved to approve the list of checks for payment, including a cost-share tied to a 65-month interest buydown for JimBonitas (Hatton EDC billed separately); Cassie Braaten seconded and the motion carried.
Board members received no detailed vote tallies beyond the recorded motions and were told that staff will continue monitoring expenditures and bring budget materials to the executive committee. Executive Director Jim Murphy said he plans to circulate a draft budget by July 10 and seek feedback by July 17 before the executive committee meets to discuss.
