Sheriff Damon Devereaux told the Logan County Board on July 1 that increased funding is needed to raise pay and retain staff. "being able to increase wages has helped with retention of staff," the minutes record as the sheriff described recruitment and retention benefits from wage increases.
Devereaux also said the jail budget was increased to cover higher utility bills; the Estimate of Needs lists full-time salaries at $1,720,680.60 and jail operations at $727,000.00 for FY2026–27. The items were entered in the temporary appropriations tables for follow-up in the county's budget process.
