Neighbors urge Wake County to address private Perry Estate road safety, air and noise issues

Residents of Perry Estate and Crooked Creek Road told commissioners they face dust, speeding, illegal activity and safety risks on a private dirt road serving nearly 30 homes and asked the county to investigate, enforce, and bring the road to a higher standard before new permits are issued.
Residents from the Tuckahoe neighborhood described chronic safety and health issues related to the Perry Estate / Crooked Creek Road area and asked Wake County for help. Dave Livingston said the private dirt and gravel road, originally serving six lots, now serves 28 lots and that residents have faced heavy traffic, dust and what he described as shootings and explosions in the area: "We're dodging bullets... I can't breathe," he said, and urged the county to reach out to affected households.
Mary Ann Livingston asked the county to stop issuing further building permits on Crooked Creek Road until the situation is resolved and requested the road be upgraded to proper Class A standards for safety. Commissioners requested contact information so county staff can follow up and indicated they would have staff reach out to the residents to determine next steps.
