Morning Star Operating, LLC gave an introductory presentation to the City of Sidney Public Safety Committee outlining a proposed four-well oil pad with a saltwater injection well south of Sidney off County Road 350. The company described drilling and casing the injection well “to a depth below the aquifer” and said the project’s saltwater tanks would be steel-lined: “The saltwater tanks are made from steel and lined; no fiberglass tanks would be used.”
Montana Clean Water addressed the committee and raised concerns about permitting and safeguards to protect groundwater, specifically asking about monitoring and regulatory compliance. The committee recorded the presentation as introductory and noted that no City action was required at this time.
