The City of Sidney Nuisance Committee voted unanimously on April 28 to authorize Compliance Officer Schroeder to issue a notice to the Bargain Garage property at 1440 South Central Avenue under the updated Nuisance Code.
Clerk/Treasurer Chamberlin told the committee the Nuisance Code update passed second reading at the City Council meeting on April 20, 2026 and will take effect May 20. Compliance Officer Schroeder presented an inspection report and updated photos showing the property has been on the nuisance list since March 2025 and that a cleanup last year was not sufficient for removal from the list. Motion to notice was made by Alderman Kauffman and seconded by FM/BI Rasmussen; vote recorded Yea: Kauffman, Norby, Hintz, Rasmussen.
The action directs Schroeder to proceed under the new code once it is effective. The committee did not identify further remedial steps at the meeting. The committee approved other similar notices for separate properties during the same session.
