Hanover CPMT hears $700,000 year-end deficit; OCS reports 11% statewide CSA spending increase

Chair Bret Schardein told the CPMT that Hanover County’s revised year-end projections show a continued budget deficit of approximately $700,000 relative to the amended budget. The figure was presented during the announcements portion of the May 28 meeting.
Brady Nemeyer said he recently spoke with the Director of the Virginia Office of Children’s Services, who indicated CSA spending rose about 11% statewide this fiscal year. Nemeyer told the committee that private day school placements and treatment foster care placements are the primary drivers of the statewide increase; he said he will share further end-of-year data as OCS finalizes it.
