Social Services Advisory Board backs director's FY26 budget proposal

The Social Services Advisory Board voted unanimously on March 24, 2026, to support the FY26 budget proposed by the department director and approved several routine procedural items.
Cheri Novicky Kasch moved that the board "support the budget proposed by the Director as being adequate to provide public assistance and social services in Hanover County." Amanda Taylor seconded the motion and the vote carried unanimously. Earlier in the meeting, Dan Johnson moved to approve the Nov. 18, 2025 minutes (Cheri Novicky Kasch seconded), and the board approved three recognition letters for Benefit Programs Specialists, Family Services (Social Work Appreciation Month), and Office Services Support (Dan Johnson moved; Diane Fleming seconded); both motions passed unanimously.
Budget documents attached to the minutes show the FY26 amended grand total at $8,276,888 with Q2 YTD actuals recorded and remaining balances across salaries, operating and program lines. Board packets included the FY25 year-end reconciliation showing a $45,655 general fund savings at close.
No dissenting votes were recorded on the motions presented at the March 24 meeting.
