The Hanover County Social Services Advisory Board met May 26, 2026, and opened with staff introductions and routine business. Don Ward, Chair, confirmed a quorum and the board approved the November 18, 2025 meeting minutes after a motion from Vice Chair Dan Johnson and a second from Cheri Novicky Kasch.
County Attorney Dennis Walter introduced Rebecca Schultz, the Assistant County Attorney who will represent Social Services going forward. Daricka Jones introduced Elizabeth Scholla as the Division Director of Services (start date Jan. 16, 2026). Kristin Evans and other child protective services staff were also introduced with their hire dates noted.
The board reviewed the End of the Year Report presented by Director Daricka Jones and considered recognition letters for staff appreciation months. "Mr. Dan Johnson moved to approve the three letters. Ms. Diane Fleming seconded the motion, and it was approved unanimously," the minutes record. The board scheduled its next meeting for July 28, 2026, and adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
