Nobles County sets EMV and minimum-bid sales dates, updates terms for tax-forfeited properties

Nobles County commissioners approved new terms for the sale of tax-forfeited properties on Aug. 5, updating auction procedures and dates.
Under the new process, the county will hold an initial Estimated Market Value (EMV) sale on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Farmers Room with starting bids no less than the assessor-determined EMV. Properties unsold at the EMV sale will be available for 30 days at the Auditor/Treasurer’s Office at the EMV price; after that period remaining properties will be offered at a Minimum Bid Sale on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with starting bids equal to the sum of delinquent taxes, special assessments, penalties, interest and costs as defined in Minn. Stat. § 282.005, subd. 2.
The board also set the county's land classification meeting for Dec. 23, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. The motion to approve the new sale terms was moved by Commissioner Justin Ahlers and seconded by Commissioner Bob Paplow and recorded as duly passed.
