Huachuca City Council directs active code enforcement, warns of possible litigation

Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the Council that residents at a recent CDBG meeting had asked for stronger enforcement of zoning, health and safety provisions and asked whether Council wanted an aggressive approach. Harvey cautioned enforcement could prompt legal challenges and costs. "We are prepared to be aggressive, but... some people may fight us on it and it may end up in court," she said.
After discussion, Mayor Johann R. Wallace confirmed the Council’s direction: active enforcement going forward with equal application of the code. Council members emphasized preserving property values and public health; staff will proceed but noted potential legal and financial implications in individual enforcement cases.
