During the budget workshop a Commissioner questioned a non-departmental line (S01014O90495) that included an $80,000 miscellaneous allocation, saying it would be difficult to tell taxpayers what that money would be used for. The commissioner urged caution and suggested the court reconsider or better justify such an unspecified amount.
The commissioner compared the $80,000 figure to other requested increases and said the court needed to be able to explain large miscellaneous allocations to constituents. The County Judge and other commissioners left the item for the auditor to incorporate into the completed proposed budget for review in the 1:30 p.m. reconvening; no vote on the line was recorded in the morning session.
