County committee approves Milton community grants to local nonprofits supporting youth, workforce and volunteers

New Memphis Institute described a semester‑long paid internship pipeline for local college students designed to improve graduation and local placement outcomes. Pastor Ricky Floyd of the Husband Institute and representatives from Volunteer Odyssey and the Golden Institute described mentoring, apprenticeship and volunteer mobilization activities that serve high‑need neighborhoods. Commissioner sponsors emphasized the local reach of the programs and asked applicants to return to the full commission on Monday for additional commissioners to hear the presentations.
What’s next: The grants were forwarded with favorable committee recommendations and will appear on the Monday commission agenda for final action.
