McKinney opens applications for boards and commissions; HPAB terms, deadlines announced

Tanisha Parchment, the deputy city secretary, told the Historic Preservation Advisory Board on April 2 that the city has opened its application period for boards-and-commissions appointments. "The application submission period is currently open and will close on Friday, June 19, and you can apply online," Parchment said, and she added that interviews will be conducted in July and City Council appointments will begin Oct. 1, 2026.
Parchment also reviewed membership rules for HPAB: "The HPAB consists of 7 members with 2 alternates and appointment terms are 2 years and with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms per the board policy," she said. Board members asked staff to note the correct membership counts on future materials; Parchment acknowledged a typographical error on the printed sheet and confirmed the city will notify incumbents about required open-government training to be completed by Oct. 1, 2026.
